Introduction

Duct is a key part of central air-conditioning system. It plays a very important role in adjusting air condition in buildings. The air condition and appearance of buildings are related with duct quality. The material used for duct is constantly evolving in order to satisfy the demand for higher and higher quality, greater respect for the environment, and increased savings in energy.

Many different materials and systems such as magnesitic composite, PVC and so on have been developed as alternatives to the galvanized sheet metal used traditionally, pre-insulated duct is a fresh blood of duct systems. It is a sandwich panel that is made of a layer-silicate modified fireproof rigid PIR (Polyisocyanurate) foam faced with aluminum foil. It seemed to be a trend to use AIR pre-insulated duct on world duct market instead of traditional duct systems. AIR pre-insulated duct has been steadily developed and spread around the world, as its application has been gradually extended to every type of air distribution system: industrial, civil and commercial.

Physical Properties of ISO Duct

  1. Thickness of panel: 20mm , 30mm
  2. The embossed Aluminum foil thickness: 60, 80, 200 micron.
  3. Density of Core material: 40 - 45 kg/m3
  4. Compressive strength: 200N / mm2
  5. Thermal conductivity: 0.022 W / m.K
  6. Flame retardancy: B1
  7. Friction coefficent: 0.0135
  8. There is no freon in ISO Ducts. So it won't destroy aerosphere.
  9. As a result of low water adsorbability of ISO Duct panel, it won't bring germ in the ducts.
  10. The panel size is 1200mm (Width) and 3000mm (Length).
  11. The Length of the panel can be made 4000mm as per the customers requirement.

COMPARISION BETWEEN FIBER GLASS AND ISO DUCT PRE INSULATED DUCT SYSTEM

6. Fiberglass causes skin irritation and the miniscule fibres that mix with air during insallation are not good for the respiratory system. No safety hazards and loose particles.
7. Canvas Cloth / coating etc. required for the system will produce lot of smoke and toxic gases in case of fire. Class "O" rated product in accordance with BS 476 Part 6 with low smoke and toxic gas produced.
